Join CSEA Chapter 262
Who Can Join the CSEA?
If you are a permament classified employee of Mt. San Antonio College (full-time or part-time), you can join the CSEA immediately. To join:
On September 28, 2000, Governor Gray Davis signed the Fair Share Legislation law (SB 1960). Essentially, what this means for Mt. SAC classified employees is that all employees now have the choice to either "join the recognized employee organization or to pay the organization a fair share service fee."
Does this mean you must join the CSEA?
No. If you are not currently a member of either Chapter 262 or Chapter 651, you are not required to join now. What this new law does mean, however, is that you are required to pay a "fair share" fee even if you do not join the local Mt. SAC chapter. All Mt. SAC employees benefit from the CSEA's collective bargaining agreement, which, among other things, includes the benefit package you received when you were hired by the College. The Fair Share law ensures the costs of providing these benefits is shared fairly and equally by all of those who enjoy those benefits.
