What is a Site Representative?
- The UNION at the work site
- The first UNION contact for new employees
- The primary UNION contact for unit employees at the
work site
- The UNION role model
- The conduit and filter of workplace actions and information
- The face, eyes, and ears of the UNION at your work
site
The duties of the Site Representative typically include
good communication skills, building membership by welcoming
new employees, assisting new employees in siging up for
membership, attending chapter meetings, introducing new
members at chapter meetings, posting CSEA information on
bulletin boards, and distributing to all classified employees
CSEA materials and information at the work location. The
Site Rep must also be aware of employees’ rights
so they can refer the employee to the appropriate Chapter
Leader when there is a problem.
The qualifications for a Site Rep are:
- Genuine caring for people
- Complete a CSEA Site Representative Training Program
- Ability to communicate effectively with members and
non-members
- A commitment to build and strengthen the chapter
- Ability to exercise sound judgment
- A CSEA activist
This position requires only two to four hours per month.
