California Educational Coalition for Health Care Reform

The District contracted with an independent third-party consultant California Educational Coalition for Health Care Reform (CECHCRs) to assist all Bargaining Units in the RFP review process.

CSEA 262 assembled a Health Care Task Force to participate in the review process independent from the Negotiations Team & Insurance Committee. The Task Force is made up of classified representative’s that have exisitng CalPERS health care plans and our retirees.

The Health Care Task Force made up of 12 members representing 8 of the 10 plans utilized by the membership. HMO Health Net Smart Care & PPO PERS Choice are not represented. If you would like to volunteer please reach out to Zak Gallegos treasurer@csea262.org

Purpose: To provide transparency to the Health Care Request For Proposal (RFP) process on behalf of CSEA Chapter 262.

Objective: To verify the third-party consultant California Educational Coalition for Health Care Reform (CECHCRs) is providing accurate information to our Unit Members to make an informed decision regarding our 2020 Third-Party Health Care Administrator.

Task Force met on 2/12/19, 3/12/19 and 4/9/19 to gather information and verify the process is being followed. The Task Force will provide feedback on current CalPERS Health Care Providers to the Negotiations Team, Insurance Committee, and CECHCRs to ensure CSEA 262 members are properly represented.

The Task Force will participate in additional town hall meetings to help inform and educate fellow CSEA 262 Members on the RFP process.

CSEA 262 Members will make an independent informed decision (no later than end of May) on the option for a 2020 Third-Party Health Care Administrator.
