Voting has concluded and the results are in. A total of 241 votes were cast, 51% of our membership. Our goal was to have at least 50% participation, so we are thrilled to have met that goal. A union succeeds through member participation. This turnout is a testament to our success as a union. We are all very proud to be part of CSEA 262 and extremely honored to represent our fellow members.
The final vote for Tentative Agreements 1 through 3 was 179 yes and 62 no. The tentative agreements are therefore ratified 74.3% to 25.7%
The final vote for the Memorandum of Understanding for the “True-up Fund” was 188 yes and 53 no. The MOU is therefore ratified 78% to 22%
Thank you to everyone for getting out the vote. While we scheduled seven different times and locations over three weeks, we knew a few folks would still not be able to vote during work hours. Those of you who came in a little early, stayed a little late, or came in on your day off to vote a special thank you for your dedication. This should be the last paper ballot we have. Once the CSEA field office approves our constitutional changes we will be able to conduct voting online!
Your Chapter leadership would also like to take a moment to thank our Lead Tellers, Karen Braggins, Rosa Asencio, and Brandon Gillett, as well as all of the members who volunteered to work a voting location. We could not have had such a great turnout without your valuable help!
The next step in the process will be for these agreements to go before the Mt. Sac Board of Trustees at the July 10 Board meeting for their approval. After that we will begin working on a transition plan for the move from CalPERS health plans to SISC health plans. This process will include an advisory vote in the near future to determine which health plans our unit would like selected from the available choices. There is still much work to be done to ensure a smooth transition, so if you are interested in helping, please contact Chapter President Robert Stubbe (firstname.lastname@example.org).
If you are not yet a member of CSEA 262, this would be a great time to join so that your voice can be heard in the decisions we still have to make. If you’d like to join, please contact Chapter President Robert Stubbe (email@example.com) or Chapter Treasurer Zak Gallegos (firstname.lastname@example.org) to complete a membership form.
