Know Your Rights

As a classified employee of Mt. SAC, you have many rights protected not only by your collective bargaining agreement negotiated with the District but also by numerous laws, including the United States and California Constitutions, the California Education Code, Labor Code, Government Code, and many others. These rights are a foundation upon which CSEA Chapter 262 has negotiated your contract. Additional rights, though not formally negotiated, may be granted by local school district policy or binding memorandums of understanding (MOU) between CSEA and Mt. SAC.

Some examples of rights you have are listed here. Click on the CSEA Know Your Rights Guide, which gives you an explanation of what your rights are, cites the applicable codes and laws that give you those rights, and also notes important case law that upholds these rights. This information is the best tool you have for protecting yourself from violations of your rights.

As always, if you feel you or a colleague's rights have been violated or you have questions about your rights, do not hesitate to call the Chief Job Steward (email) or any member of the Chapter Executive Board at ext. 4413.

Remember, CSEA works for you to protect your rights.
