Selection Committee Representatives

The Mt. SAC Human Resources Department is starting recruitment for open positions again, and your Chapter needs you as representatives to serve on these committees:

  • Administrative Specialist I, Natural Sciences

  • Administrative Specialist II, School of Continuing Ed

  • Administrative Specialist III, EOPS/CARE

  • Administrative Specialist III, School of Continuing Ed

  • Administrative Specialist IV, School of Continuing Ed

  • Application Training Specialist, Information Technology

  • Assistant Director, Health Services

  • Coordinator, Deaf & Hard Hearing Services (if you have sign language experience, please consider participating; however, signing experience is not required)

To serve as a CSEA 262 representative, you must be a Chapter member and cannot work in the department hiring the employee.  The college is also committed to ensuring diversity and equity, so your participation helps the college meet these goals.  You must also have already received the Selection Committee/EEO training within the last two years.  If you have not received the training, please register for the next available training at the POD web site.  You can also search for Selection Committee/EEO training available via POD (you will need to log in to POD Connect).  If you are interested in serving on any of the above committees, please contact Marlene Espina (vp2@csea262.org or mespina@mtsac.edu) for more information.

The dates and times of the next Selection Committee/EEO online training is:

July 14 – 9 to 11am

July 30 – 9:30 – 11:30am

Appointment to a Selection Committee as a CSEA representative is not subject to your manager’s approval.  Your participation is also on release time during regular work hours and part of your regular work schedule.  You do not have to use any personal leave or lunch time to attend committee activities.

Participation on a committee or attending Committee/EEO training is paid release time, so mark it as “release time” on your timesheet.  Once your committee has determined the schedule for the committee activities, notify your manager of the schedule dates and times.

If you have any issues with your manager regarding your appointment or release time, do not argue with your manager.  Instead, please contact Chapter VP2 Marlene Espina or Chief Steward Liz Jauregui as soon as possible.
