Stay At Home Order Issued

Today at around 5pm, California Governor Newsom issued an executive order (attached) that requires “all individuals living in the State of California to stay home or at their place of residence except as needed to maintain continuity of operations of the federal critical infrastructure sectors.”  In response to this order, at 8:40pm tonight, Thursday 19 March 2020, President Scroggins has ordered Mt. San Antonio College to Level 3 of its response plan (attached), which closes the campus except for critical functions.

Your CSEA Chapter 262 leadership team will be meeting with the District tomorrow, Friday, 20 March 2020 to negotiate terms and conditions of the effects of this closure.  While negotiating terms with the District has been difficult due to the fluidity and speed of the situation, the college closure will give the District and CSEA the opportunity to develop a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).  Your Chapter leadership hopes to reach agreement and develop the signed MOU at the conclusion of this meeting.

Should agreement be reached, the MOU will be sent to CSEA for immediate review and emergency authorization to provide you with the MOU and an opportunity to ratify the agreement, which we intend to do via our online voting platform, Ballotteer as we did for the Chapter Officer elections last December.

While we understand family and friends are certainly a higher priority, your Executive Board strongly urges you to check your Mt. SAC e-mail regularly during this closure for more important updates from the college and particularly from your Chapter 262 leadership.  When we have more information for you, we will update you as soon as possible.  If and when we have an MOU to present to you, it will be sent as soon as CSEA can complete its review process (the 610 process) and approve it going forward to our members.  As soon as we have information about voting for the ratification, we will update you on that as well.

Indeed, there are trying times, times that will challenge us personally and professionally.  As always, we will weather this crisis together.  As always, your Chapter 262 leadership will represent and support your best interests.  As always, your Chapter 262 leadership team appreciates your continuing support and good faith in our leadership for all that we do on your behalf.

Stay safe and healthy.
